FAQs
Can I use the service in the same way I would my own GP?
Absolutely. This is a rapid access personalised service that is designed to complement NHS provisions. Mark, Dawn and Vicky are local NHS GPs with over 50 years of experience between them.
What if I need further tests, or referral to a specialist?
One of the advantages of being based at the Nuffield is that the doctors can normally arrange for investigations – like blood tests, X-rays and scans – to be done immediately after your consultation, or the following day. They can also ensure rapid referral to any one of the wide range of consultant specialists who work at the hospital.
How much does it cost, and will my insurance policy cover it?
A 30 minute consultation (20 minute for follow up appointments) costs £95 and there will be additional fees payable if further tests are required – a price list is available on request. Most insurance companies will not cover private general practice. You will also have to pay for any drugs prescribed. Private prescriptions can be filled at any pharmacy but you will be charged the market price plus a small handling fee. In many cases this will be cheaper than the standard NHS prescription charge but in others it may be considerably more.
Will my NHS GP be informed?
It is our policy to write to GPs after each consultation to ensure continuity of care, but if prefer we didn’t, your wishes will be respected.
